New Delhi: A lady was killed after she was hit by a car and afterwards dragged for a few kilometres on the road, being snared in the wheels, the police informed on Sunday.
Police said that after the incident, the condition of the girl had deteriorated to such an extent that her clothes and the back of her body got ripped off after being dragged. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal also took cognizance of the matter and issued a notice to the Delhi Police.
“The naked body of a girl was found in Delhi’s Kanjhawala, it is being told that some boys in an inebriated state hit her scooty with a car and dragged her for several kilometres. This matter is very dangerous, I am issuing an appearance summons to Delhi Police. The whole truth should come out,” she said in a tweet.
“A very disturbing incident has come out. A girl was hit by a car and then dragged on the road. The car was driven by five badly drunk people. I have summoned Delhi Police to ask how justice will be provided to the girl. Secondly, I want to ask, despite the girl being dragged for kilometres, no check post was able to catch anything. Noone stopped those drunk people. This is a very scary and shocking incident,” she said.
At 3:24 am, a PCR call was received at Kanjhwala police station that a car was seen with a body being dragged along with it. Another PCR call was received at 4:11 am, in which the girl’s body was said to be lying on the road.
After that, the police cautioned the deployed at pickets, and a search activity for the vehicle was launched. The Crime Team of the Rohini District Police reached the spot. The police inspected the spot and took photographs of the spot from different angles. Thereafter, the dead body was sent to the SGM hospital, Mangolpuri, where she was declared brought dead. The body was kept further at the mortuary of the hospital.
During this, the suspicious car was also traced, and five persons were arrested from their homes. It was found that all of them work in private companies. The victims claimed that their car met with an accident in the Sultanpuri police station area. Incidentally, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station concerned also saw a scooty in an accidental condition. It was reported at 3:53 pm and on further investigation, it was found that the vehicle belonged to the deceased victim.
After reviewing the spot, the police revealed that the victim was hit by the vehicle, after which her dress got caught, and she was dragged on for a few kilometres.
The police said that the medical assessment of the accused is being led, to who was driving the car, to determine if he was under liquor impact.
